Essure removal specialists are few and far between, however, it is essential that Essure women find the right doctor. Essure removal specialist says that the first thing they do is to perform an ultrasound to attempt to locate the device. Essure removal specialist Dr. Shawn Tassone urges a note of caution. " Vaginal ultrasound to look at the ovaries and uterus. Occasionally I will see the coils, but ultrasound is a poor method of location. I repeat ultrasound is a poor method of location." Dr. Tassone supplements ultrasound with abdominal and pelvic X-rays to attempt to locate the device. The doctor is shocked to find that quite often the metallic Essure coil has broken apart either on its own or as a result of a botched attempt at Essure removal, and has found parts of Essure that have perforated the uterus or have damaged the colon.
