Essure's Primary Problem Is That The Device Does Not Stay Put Within The Fallopian Tubes Where It is Intended

Tuesday, May 7, 2019 - Women who become members of the Facebook group entitled "Essure Problems" are encouraged to report the adverse medical consequences the device causes. Essure women complain of real medical issues such as constant back and body aches, migraine headaches, body rashes, having a constant metallic taste in their mouths, flu-like symptoms, allergic reactions, auto-immune difficulties, a host of other problems, however, three medical problems seem to stand out and are reported by nearly every Essure woman that seeks to have the device removed. Essure birth control device lawyers have vast expertise in handling claims filed by individuals against large, billion-dollar multinational pharmaceutical corporations.

An Essure patient can be assured that something has gone terribly wrong with their birth control device if they start to experience abnormally painful and frequent cramping as well as a sharp stabbing pain in the area of their reproductive organs. In addition to cramping and pain, abnormal, heavy, and constant bleeding is also a sign that the Essure birth control device has migrated away from the Fallopian tube on either side or both, and has become lodged in the uterus where the organ spasms and contracts in a natural response seeking to expel the foreign invader. That said the excessive bleeding part should be obvious as is the new and enhanced risk of getting an infection within the uterus. When Essure migrates to and becomes entrapped in the uterus, only a complete hysterectomy will ensure that the device is safely removed. Ironically, Essure was sold to women primarily for the comfort and convenience of being able to be implanted in the doctor's office without surgery or risky general anesthesia. Now thousands of women have been forced to undergo a hysterectomy, the radical, dangerous, and highly invasive major surgery that women were seeking to avoid. If the scar tissue does not immediately develop to entrap the Essure birth control coil, the device is free to migrate wherever it may go. When women return to their Essure doctor to seek answers for their pain they are almost always told that Essure could not be the problem and that their symptoms were all in their heads.

One woman who was suffering from device migration reported sharp stabbing pain, cramping, and excessive bleeding. Laura Casey, a woman who is serving in the US Navy recently told News Center Maine that she was forced to undergo life-altering surgery to remove parts of a broken Essure that had migrated to her uterus and stomach. "'I had a radical hysterectomy, had my fallopian tubes removed, my cervix removed, my uterus removed and a vaginal cuff placed," Casey told the News that while she was not currently planning to file a claim against Bayer, she was hoping that the birth control device was going to be taken off of the market.

Unfortunately, Essure doctors around the world and especially in the United States continue to recommend and use Essure in spite of the thousands of lawsuits that are pending that claim the defective birth control device has or is currently causing them extreme pain. Bayer announced last year that they would stop selling Essure at the end of 2018 but continues to this day to stand behind the safety of Essure. Essure doctors and online retailers stocked up on the device prior to Bayer discontinuing sales and for them implanting Essure is business as usual.
