Essure's Problems Are Global In Scale

Women in the United States have company around the world when it comes to suffering from the Essure birth control device

Monday, August 27, 2018 - It is easy to forget the scope of the problems being caused by the faulty and defective Essure birth control device. Keep in mind that Essure has been sold around the world and women in other countries are being injured just as much as American women by the device. To that effect, women in Australia are now forming to sue Essure's maker, Bayer Inc. for failing to warn them of the potential for adverse side effects.

Essure was recalled by Bayer in May 2017 after many women suffered severe side effects including irregular periods, hair loss pelvic or abdominal pain, reduced libido, and pain during intercourse. Of the estimated 5000 Australian women that have had Essure implanted, as many as 100 have formed a class action lawsuit against Bayer hoping to take the matter to court by the end of 2018. Other Australian women are urged to join. Like in the United States, Essure doctors on the Bayer Essure payroll were hesitant to admit that the symptoms Essure women complained about could be attributed to the many problems with the device and women were told that their symptoms were psychosomatic. Essure tends to migrate to other parts of a woman's reproductive system such as the uterus and removal can require a radical hysterectomy. Even then Essure tends to degrade within the body and can break into many smaller pieces making its complete removal impossible. A great number of women are suffering from metal toxicity as they are allergic or experience auto-immune issues due to the heavy metal Nickel that the device is made from.

News.com.au interviewed one Essure woman, Tanya Davidson, a mother of 4 who has had her life turned upside down for nearly a decade by Essure's adverse symptoms. Ms. Davidson suffered severe side effects including hair loss, severe menstrual bleeding, chronic fatigue and stabbing ovarian pain before being diagnosed with a nickel allergy, and had the implant removed in early 2016, but because the device broke during the procedure she needed to have a hysterectomy six months later because of the damage caused by implant fragments. Ms. Davidson has come forward with her story because like the over 40,000 women that have joined the Facebook group "Essure Problems" she wants other Essure women to know that their symptoms are real and that they are not alone.

The Essure birth control device entails inserting two spring-like devices into the vagina and then up into both Fallopian tubes where it is intended to attach to the inner wall and cause inflammation. Inflammation then triggers the body's natural immune response to encase the foreign object in scar tissue. Pain, allergic reactions, and unnatural auto-immune responses, as well as many other symptoms, have led women to seek to have the device removed only to find that Essure removal can be difficult or impossible. Essure removal tends to break the device into many smaller pieces that are free to migrate throughout the body amplifying Essure's symptoms. Essure birth control lawsuits continue to be filed.
