Essure Doctors Could Be On Bayer's Payroll Around the Globe

Gynecologists are taking fees, some in excess of $100,000, for promoting Essure and for failing to take their patient's health complaints seriously. They may be as much to blame for Essure's failure as Bayer

Tuesday, September 25, 2018 - Essure, once the world's leading birth control method, is now the subject of close to 20,000 lawsuits in the US alone. The one-inch coil that resembles a small spring is inserted into each Fallopian tube where it is intended to block fertilization. Essure's failure and the cover-up by doctors has reached the European Union and beyond. Essure failure causes the most heinous of side effects including but not limited to the complete loss of a woman's reproductive organs. According to El Pais, Spanish women with Essure complications report "hemorrhaging, vomiting, diarrhea, hair and tooth loss and ripping of the uterus and Fallopian tubes." Like women in the United States, Spain's doctors have been paid unethical retainer fees by Bayer in return for "unofficially" promoting Essure and to look the other way when a patient complains. One Spanish patient was told she was crazy when she went to her doctor to report Essure's side effects. "They treated me like I was crazy. They said I was making things up."

The coverup of Essure's failure may be as bad as the crime that was committed. Thousand of Essure women from around the world have been told by their Essure doctors that their illnesses now known to have been caused by Essure were "all in their heads" and that there was no way that Essure could be causing them. Many women have sought alternative treatments and suffered unnecessarily when all that was required was to have the Essure device removed. Thousands of doctors on Bayer's payroll are being bribed, not only recommend the Essure birth control device, but also to defend it when something goes wrong. Virtually every Essure complaint I have read includes "I had Essure implanted with problems from day one with my doctor telling there was nothing wrong."

Spain's Essure lawsuits join others from around the world including Australia, the US, Canada and the UK "for medical problems allegedly associated with its Essure permanent birth control device. "The European class action joins over 16,000 individual Essure lawsuits. A court in Spain has initiated criminal procedures against German medical conglomerate Bayer for "the Association of Essure Victims on behalf of 30 women, alleging public health crimes. This group argues that women were deliberately not told about the health risks of the product. "according to a Spanish publication." Lawyers for the 30 women claim, "the patients were never properly informed about the possible complications related to the product that could affect their health. This is an intentional omission." It is also alleged that the Spanish Gynecology Society promoted Essure because one of its executives had an improper relationship with Bayer.
