Women Seeking Essure's Removal From Their Bodies May Never Know if The Procedure Was a Success

Wednesday, August 8, 2018 - Bayer has promised to remove Essure from the US market at the end of 2018 leaving existing Essure patients scrambling for support. Removing Essure from the US market is a piece of cake compared to removing Essure from within a woman's body. Essure is a small spring-like device that is interwoven with polypropylene fibers intended to create irritation and trigger the body's natural response to create scar tissue, attach Essure to the inner wall of the Fallopian tubes, and block fertilization. When Essure disintegrates sharp sections of the device are free to migrate to other parts of a woman's reproductive organs such as the uterus and ovaries, puncture and infect them, and require a radical hysterectomy to remove every piece of the one-inch coil.
